The motif is taken from one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most well-known fairy tales “The Little Mermaid”. It is the story of a mermaid’s unrequited love for the earthly prince who is to blame for her choice to replace her fish tail with human legs, just so she can meet him. The sculpture was donated by Fehr and Co’s Grant.
