In 1868 Hans Christian Andersen’s home was pointed out to be the yellow house in Hans Jensens Stræde 43-45, located in the northern part of the old city centre of Odense. However no documentation exists of the accuracy of this.
Next to Overgade is a small street called Paaskestræde. Here is the school for the poor, where Hans Christian Andersen studied. The laundering space of the city, where the women of Hans Christian Andersen’s time, is located at the end of this street.
