The sculpture was created by sculptor Jens Flemming Sørensen. “The Flying Trunk” is made of granite and bronze and has a fountain, it depicts a suitcase going for the sky, lightly resting on three pyramid-like towers.
The sculpture is inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s tale of the Flying Trunk (1839) and the pyramid-like towers symbolize mosques in ‘ Turk land ‘ as HC Andersen describes the adventure.
