Hotel Storebælt Korsør

H. C. Andersen often went by Korsør on his numerous travels. The town was a traffic hub at the time and the first town on Sealand that H. C. Andersen got to know when he first time travelled to Copenhagen. The house on Amerikakajen 1 was built in 1856 as the Storebælt Hotel.

Borreby Estate

Holmegaard

H. C. Andersen visited Næstved in 1836 on one of his summer travels. He stayed with Colonel Høegh-Guldberg and spent much of the time on hiking to Herlufsholm along a creek and in the sorrounding woods. H. C. Andersen also visited Holmegaard glass foundry in 1842.

Liselund, Møn

H. C. Andersen went on his first real summer holiday in 1829, where he visited Møn island and Liselund. He had just had his vaudeville, “Fodreise far Holmens Canal” published, and it was performed at the Royal Theatre. He felt the popularity coming on, as he was also published in magazines and papers.

Halskov Vænge

H. C. Andersen visited Falster three times during the years 1845-1852 and his visit was centered around Corselitze estate outside Nykøbing Falster. Corselitze caste was one of the places where H. C. Andersen liked to spend time and enjoy the surrounding nature.

Holstenhuus Slotspark

After one of H. C. Andersens trips in Europe, he went on a small tour through Sealand to Funen, where he visited Holstenhuus on the 9th. of July 1843 on the occasion of a party. A lot of people from Faaborg and Svendborg participated, among others Riborg Voigt along with her husband and children.

Assistens Graveyard

Thumbelina

The sculpture “Thumbelina” is made by Lotte Olsen, it can be found on Sortebrødre Square and was unveiled in 1994. The sculpture is made of bronze, 3.4 metres tall and weighs approx. 600 kg.
