The Steadfast Tin Soldier

The bronze sculpture “”The Steadfast Tin Soldier”” (1997) can be found in Overgade 19 and was created by Eiler Madsen. The statue of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale about the little tin soldier, who was cast as number 25 in the series, however, there unfortunately was not enough tin for the little soldier, and thus he is missing a leg.
Even though the statue was vandalized in December 2006, it still stands as the original today.
Eiler Madsen is behind several sculptures in Odense, including “Ikaros” in front of Odense Theatre.
The tale of “”The Steadfast Tin Soldier”” was published in 1838.
